Tasting notes

Crisp and welcoming on the palate, with layers of warm native spice unfolding steadily. Horopito adds a gentle, distinctive heat that fades into a long, smooth finish. Refined, balanced and quietly moreish.

Our favourite serve

Hahei Martini

  • 60ml Classic
  • 10ml dry vermouth
  • A strip of lemon peel
  1. Stir the gin and vermouth over plenty of ice until very cold.
  2. Strain into a chilled coupe.
  3. Twist the peel over the top.

Field notes

Signature botanical

Horopito

Pseudowintera colorata

A native New Zealand plant, also called pepper tree. Its leaves have a gentle, peppery heat, and it's the warm spice in our Classic.

Signature botanical

Nutmeg

Myristica fragrans

The seed of a tropical evergreen tree. Warm and sweet, it sits underneath the horopito and carries it into a long, smooth finish.

In every gin

Juniper

Juniperus communis

Juniper is in every bottle, as it should be. The signature botanicals on each label are what make each gin its own, so Classic tastes nothing like Verdant.
